Gary’s Handy Lunch – 462 Thames Street, Newport, 401-847-9480The local’s hangout this retro diner keeps the coffee coming and serves no-frills breakfasts. No credit cards accepted, an ATM is located inside Gary’s for convenience.
Lunch
Red Parrot – 348 Thames Street, Newport, 401-847-3140The Red Parrot has a strong tropical inspired design that flows into the menu from their pina coladas to Jamaican pork chops. The restaurant was originally built as a meat packing house in 1898.
H2O – 359 Thames Street, Newport, 401-849-4466Sitting right on the waterfront lunch on the deck and lounge offer great views of the boats. The menu features a variety of seafood items as well as burgers and sandwiches. H2O has live music on weekends during the lunch crowd.
Black Pearl – Bannister’s Wharf, Newport, 401-846-5264The waterside patio offers visitors the views of the wharf – from people watching to luxury yacht spotting. Patrons are encouraged to wear “proper dress” when dining at the Black Pearl and menu prices reflect this sentiment. The raw bar is available after 3pm.
Newport offers the evening crowds two varities of dinner choices: casual and upscale. Casual restaurants may have the air of fine dining but rarely carry the same pricetag. Uspscale restaurant guests will find themselves most comfortable in business casual attire.
